Formerly Hand Held Products(HHP)/Welch Allyn ScanTeam 8300 Check ReadersThe Uniform Industrial Corp SCANTEAM® 8300 is a magnetic MICR check reader that can adapt to a variety of applications, enabling retail and financial transactions to reduce fraud, increase clerk efficiency, as well as enhance customer services.
In one small footprint, the SCANTEAM R 8300 can perform multiple functions: the SCANTEAM R 8300 , with accessories, can also read bar code and magnetic stripe information and can be configure with up to two RS-232 ports for peripheral devices such as PIN pads, scales or signature capture devices.
The SCANTEAM R 8300 can bring this functionality to virtually any terminal as it connects to hundreds of POS and teller systems through a single host interface port.
In most cases, the SCANTEAM R 8300 can be powered by +5 or +12 volt power provided by the host device, eliminating the need for additional bulky power supplies. For future interfaces or updates, the SCANTEAM R 8300 contains FLASH memory which allows for easy firmware upgrade in the field without the need to send back or disassemble the product.
The SCANTEAM R 8300 is a series of value-priced and industry standard check readers. Ideal for financial and retail applications, the check reader easily converts high volumes of paper checks into electronic information. An integrated magnetic stripe reader option is available to accommodate card swiping. Easy-to-install and reliable, the ST8300/ST8310 helps control check fraud and enhance customer satisfaction.

Industry Design Standard
Minimal space is needed on the counter for the 8300/ST8310.
It can be placed next to a PC or electronic cash register for ready access. In many environments, the ST8300/ST8310 can also be powered by the host device via USB, eliminating the need for an additional bulky power supply.
Flash memory allows for easy firmware upgrades in the field
without the need to disassemble the check reader. A magnetic read head allows for accurate MICR data capture. Available in the colors of beige or black, the check reader complements existing hardware.
With the ST8300/ST8310, users can easily scan paper checks
and achieve a successful first pass good read rate. In an
environment where large volumes of checks are present, the
ST8300/ST8310 can provide a quick return on investment.
In the Field Changes
The Uniform Industrial Corp ST8300/ST8310 allows for easy and fast firmware modifications in the field downloaded through a point-of-sale or teller system. To accommodate emerging check technologies, the ST8300/ST8310 supports host download of all parameter and MICR exception table data.

Designed for reliability, the ST8300/ST8310’s motorized paper transport handles checks easily and quickly. The check reader has above average industry standard success rates for first pass good reads. Deployed around the world, the ST8300/ST8310 successfully converts paper checks to electronic transactions for processing.
International Applications
The ST8300/ST8310 can be used worldwide for financial documents. With its auto-discrimination feature, the check reader can accurately read documents with E-13B or CMC-7 MICR fonts

Direct Connect Interfaces The ST8310 can communicate to a host device using bar code wand emulation, usb keyboard emmulation, or serial RS-232.

Compatibility: With hundreds of PC, POS, and teller systems through keyboard wedge interface.
Enabled: No action is required to differentiate E-13B from CMC-7. Checks are automatically read as they are presented.
